Memoirs of a Russian fighter pilot, 1941-1945, who became a wartime legend in his own country serving with Baltic Fleet Air Force and with 28 kills. Igor Kaberov completed 476 sorties and took part in 132 air battles, and the action is focused particularly on the siege of Leningrad. Kaberov's success was awarded with numerous honours including Hero of the Soviet Union. This is a translated and abridged version of the Russian original, by Peter Rule, based largely on the personal diaries Kaberov kept while serving with a fighter squadron.
