Soldiers describe the war as they saw it during the final days of the battle for Europe across eastern France, Luxembourg and Belgium, January to May 1945. Eisenhower's Allied armies lost over 300,000 men in battle and a similar number in non-battle casualties, while still finding themselves in the same positions as three months before.
