MYSTERY TOWERS OF WORLD WAR ONE

Describes the incredible feat by the Royal Navy in 1918 to block the English Channel with a combination of huge reinforced concrete blocks and steel towers, each weighing 10,000 tons, anti-submarine netting and reinforced concrete monitors of 30,000 tons. If the war had lasted a few months longer, the project would have been completed and the need for a Channel Tunnel would have given way to a Channel bridge. Only one tower still exists and is utilised as a lighthouse.
