LOOS 1915: THE UNWANTED BATTLE

This is the first complete study of the Battle of Loos, unwanted by the British commanders who felt the Army was unprepared for an assault on such a scale and the flat and open ground - overlooked by the Germans throughout its length - was considered unsuitable for such an attack. But politics intervened as the British government was anxious to be seen supporting France and playing its part as a willing ally. Many hard lessons were learned as a result. In fact, it was a salutary lesson, but perhaps a necessary and inevitable one, for both politicians and soldiers alike. Now out-of-print and limited stock available.
