Audley End House in Essex - or Station 43 as it was known during World War
II - was used as the training school for SOE's Polish Section between 1942 and
1944. Set up in 1942 and, uniquely within Special Operations Executive, placed
exclusively under Polish control in 1943, the principal training school for
Polish agents ran arduous training courses in all aspects of guerrilla warfare.
Of the 316 agents parachuted into Poland, 108 gave their lives. NOW
