Every now and again a book is released that I can truly say is seriously funky: and this is one of them! Gorgeous photographs of TauchenPanzer, SchwimmPanzer, Command tanks, Pommern Ferries, Siebel Ferries, unusual sequences of photographs, etc. All major tanks and armoured support vehicles are presented, from the Panzer I to Tiger II, along with assault guns, self-propelled artillery, half-tracks and armoured cars. Additionally, many of the tanks and support vehicles modified for Operation Sea Lion are shown during testing or later use during the war. Rare vehicles such as the Landwasserschlepper, anti-aircraft barges, Sturmpionier boats and the Stuka zu Fuss (half-tracked rocket launcher) are included too. The photographs illustrate many field modifications to an assortment of vehicles, together with interesting and innovative uses of such vehicles. The photographs are excellent quality and almost all of them are previously unpublished. Many are presented full-page. As an interesting extra, the author has included an extensive section on the Kustenjager (the German equivalent of marine commandos). As part of the Brandenburgers, the Kustenjagers took part in many landings in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. A brief (fifteen page) but very interesting diary of their operations is included in the text portion of the book. Also included is a sixteen-page colour section highlighting many of the vehicles seen in the photographs. This title is a must for any modeller or German Armed Forces enthusiast. A quality Fedorowicz publication.
