The history of underwater warfare - a new type of guerrilla war developed by the Italian Navy toward the end of the First World War and completely implemented during World War II. This type of warfare, conducted by frogmen with special training and prototype equipment, proved fatal to Allied civilian and military ships operating in the Mediterranean. Frogmen teams sank more vessels than any other traditionally formed military entity. Its main unit was the Decima MAS, the X Light Flotilla, whose frogmen conquered the Mediterranean and even planned an attack on the city of New York.
