FARMING AND FORESTRY ON THE WESTERN FRONT 1915-1919

The book is divided into three sections: the first section describes the effects of the First World War on agricultural production on the Home Front during the Great War years. The second section covers the farming activities instigated by the British Army to help feed the troops and to assist the French and Belgian farmers with harvest work behind the lines. Finally, the third section shows the forestry work which was carried out in Flanders to build and maintain the complex trench systems so characteristic of the Western Front.
