Enzian and Stern - Swiss Special Intervention Units in Berne Switzerland has
a unique system whereby each canton has its own police SWAT team, and in the
case of Berne, it has Enzian and Stern. Enzian is a fulltime dedicated
counterterrorism unit, while Stern's part-time members specialise in such duties
as hostage rescue and VIP protection. This article shows police officers in full
combat gear and with their whole range of equipment as they engage in exercise
rehearsals. The author has successfully managed to convey the essence of these
two units in word and picture, though since this article was written, both units
have actually merged into a new entity known as Police Bern. Joint Combined

Australia has given unstinting support to the US-led Coalition in Iraq and
Afghanistan, and this article examines the role played by "Aussies" in Iraq
since 2003. The article's text includes a précis of Australia's involvement in
the invasion in 2003, outlining the exploits of its Special Forces personnel in
particular. Photographs show SAS and Commando Regiment personnel and equipment,
before moving on to subsequent deployments involving 8 x 8 ASLAVs and 4 x 4
Bushmasters. The coverage includes the invasion and the years beyond, with a
number of up-to-date photographs included. The overall number of Aussies in Iraq
may be small but their contribution has been great.
