Intended to help researchers, military, local and family, to establish what constituted the British Army at the time and to locate each unit easily, this is a complete alphabetical listing of the regiments and corps that were in existence when war was declared on 4th August 1914. Its scope being the regular army, together with its reserve, auxiliary and junior elements, the list is based on titles and designations that may be termed as "official" and therefore "correct" - but for ease of reference the author also lists the unofficial but often more frequently used or shortened regimental names as well.
