The basis of this work is a series of monographs published by the US Army in the mid-1950s. Its authors are senior Japanese officers with particular insight into Japanese tactics. This is an incredibly insightful work and is heavily illustrated with all sorts of examples of tactics and exercises. Volume 1 covers basic infantry organisation and discussion of overall tactical system, including training cycle and night vision techniques.
