ARMOURED CRUSADER

The biography of Major-General Sir Percy "Hobo" Hobart, one of the most influential military commanders of World War II. Hobart was at the forefront of a small band who during the 1920s and 1930s tried to drag the British Army into the 20th Century. He trained the troops who became the Desert Rats and raised from scratch the 11th Armoured Division, the best British armoured unit in Europe after D-Day. He also raised the 79th Armoured Division - those specialised tanks without whose aid the D-Day landings might well have failed.
