This is a celebration of one of the most successful British aircraft of all time. The Gloster Meteor first flew during World War II and a few hardy survivors are still airworthy into the 21st Century. The Meteor served with sixteen overseas air forces as well as with the Royal Air Force so there is enormous scope for modellers to produce examples in a wide variety of liveries and markings replicating aircraft from literally around the world. The book has a strong emphasis on the design and development of the aircraft and its initial flight testing. Among the other topics which are covered in detail are: early marques, night fighter variants, construction, service both in the United Kingdom and overseas, test beds and trials aircraft. There are numerous data tables and information on the serials carried by the aircraft. In addition the book contains many previously unpublished or relatively unknown photographs, including some rare early colour transparencies. The photographs include a wealth of detailed views which are of particular use for those making models of the aircraft.
