A Perfect Hell" tells the story of America's first special operations unit. In 1942 the First Special Service Force (FSSF) was created to spearhead a daring invasion of Norway. Commanded by the charismatic and visionary Colonel Robert T Frederick, the "Black Devils" were trained at an isolated base in Helena, Montana. After the Norway mission was aborted, the FSSF took on an even more daring challenge: Frederick's men had to seize a key German position in the Italian Alps. They attacked the Germans by way of a route deemed utterly impassable, and they won the peak in a two-hour fire fight.
