An astounding collection of 800 photographs (mostly new), from private
archives and the files of the Division in all its glory, focusing,
understandably, on the war in Europe up until the end of the conflict in 1945.
Plentiful pictures of AFVs, gliders and weapons, along with pricesless studies
of the men themselves, accompanied by an authoritative text in English. The
post-war period includes a thirty page chapter on the 82nd's involvement in
Vietnam, with some excellent studies of troops in colour - great uniform
painting references and full of ideas for figure-based vignettes. Following the
Vietnam section, we have a sizeable portion of the final chapter dedicated to
Kuwait and Iraq, with a necessarily anonymous photo-blog by a soldier showing
training in urban conditions, leading up to full combat in Iraq.
